Robert John Bertram Sr.

Robert John Bertram Sr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 85 in Attica, Michigan. Born on February 29, 1940, in Attica, Michigan, Robert was a leap year baby whose adventurous spirit and warm sense of humor brought joy and laughter to all who knew him.

Robert's life was rich with love and dedication, beginning with his marriage to the love of his life, Marie Bowers, on January 10, 1959, in Lapeer, Michigan. Together, they built a family founded on strong values and unconditional support. Robert was a devoted father to his sons, Robert John Jr. (Kristal), Benedict, and Nicolas, and a guiding light to his grandchildren, Bobby, Kristie, Benny, Brandon (Justine), Brynn (Brandon) Strzynski, Jason, Alexandra, Zack, Shayna, as well as his great-grandchildren, Noah, Landon, Riley, Brielle, Ella, Rebelle, Allie, Harper, Camila, Elizabeth, Dana, Ryder. He was a loving brother to Benedict Bertram. His legacy is further cherished in the memory of his parents, Benedict and Alma Bertram, and his sons, Chuckie Dale, and John Ellis and brother Donald who preceded him in death.

Robert's passion for the outdoors was unparalleled. An avid deer hunter and fisherman, he was happiest when surrounded by nature. His adventurous spirit led him on numerous hunting trips to South Dakota with his son and memorable vacations to Canada for fishing and bear hunting with his family. Robert's love for the outdoors was a gift he shared generously with his grandchildren, instilling in them a deep appreciation for nature's wonders.

A hardworking man, Robert was the epitome of a provider for his family. His work ethic was matched only by his commitment to his family's well-being. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed the camaraderie and competition of his bowling league, where he spent many happy years perfecting his game and forming lasting friendships.

Those who knew Robert will remember him as an adventurous soul with a quick wit and a ready smile. His funny anecdotes and playful teasing were the hallmark of gatherings and will be fondly recalled by friends and family alike.
