James Arthur Schulz fell asleep in death on January 30, 2026 with his family by his side at the age of 82.

He was born January 9, 1944 to Arthur and Catherine Schulz in Denton, Texas. His father was in the military and when he returned from Germany they moved to Watertown, Michigan where they bought a farmhouse. Jim grew up there and graduated from Sandusky High School in 1962.

Jim was in the air force and while he was stationed in Germany he was contacted by Jehovah's Witnesses and started a study of the Bible. When he was released from the military he moved back to his hometown of Sandusky and attended the local congregation. He was baptized in 1966 and was one of Jehovah's Witness until his death.

He met Barbara Harris in 1977 and they were married in 1978. They left for their honeymoon on Jim's Harley Davidson motorcycle and spent a week traveling. Jim and Barbara were married for 46 years when she passed away in 2025. They had a son, Phillip, in 1979.He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Barbara, his brother, Robert and his granddaughter, Jessica Harris.

He is survived by his children, Phillip Schulz, Nicole Grace (Craig), Guy Harris, Todd Harris (Beth), Scott Harris, Bethany Smith (Kevin), 13 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sister, Mary Andersen (Mike) and niece, Alicia Edmiston.

There will not be a viewing; however, a memorial service will be held Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 3:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2800 N. Lapeer Rd., Lapeer, Michigan 48446. (Zoom information will be available upon request, please contact a family member a few days before the service.) Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville. The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Heart to Heart Hospice and friends and family who spent time with him while he was at home. A special thank you to his sister, Mary, for caring for him in the weeks before his passing.
