Joan Marie Lemaster, 86, of North Branch, MI, passed away on February 6, 2026. She was born on July 6, 1940, in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, George Lemaster Sr., her parents, Albert and Gertrude Lamier, brother Mancel Lamier, her sister Rita Harris, her daughter Laurel Smith (Diller), and her son in law Willie Carter.

Joan gave birth to five children, Laurel Smith, Richard (Donna) Smith, Merry (Gary) Yakes, Heather Carter and Melissa Lemaster. She and George had a combination of 12 children, Michael Lemaster, Timothy Lemaster, Lori Lemaster, Jeffrey Lemaster, Georgina Lemaster, George Lemaster JR and Rhonda Lemaster.

Joan has left behind grandchildren, Nathan (Sue) Diller, Amanda Diller, Blaine (Carissa) Diller, Kara Diller, Jessica (Rob) Snow, Joseph Smith, Claiton (Cindy) Smith, Kathy-Lynn Carter Brown, MyKaila Manns, T'Rey Johnson, Kendric Hoyt. Ramona Lemaster, Micheal Lemaster, Brian Shields, Michelle, Steven and Brent Lemaster, Krystal and Edward Frisch, Krista, Hannah, Morgan Lemaster.

Joan and George were fortunate to also have more than 30 great grandchildren, and at least 10 great-great grandchildren. Joan and George also opened there home to 25 or more foster children in Lapeer and Genesee communities.

Joan and George moved to North Branch, Michigan in 1970 to a farm on Old State Road. There, they raised kids, and every kind of farm animal they could find or fit in a station wagon. The door was always open, the coffee hot and there was always room at the table.
