Louis Fox Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Palmer Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Homes - Lansing Chapel on Feb. 19, 2026.
Louis Joseph Fox, age 96, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026. His was a journey marked by devotion to his loved ones, his faith, and his community.

Lou was born in Fowler, Michigan, on May 28, 1929. He was the 7th son of Urban and Dorothy (Feldpausch) Fox. Lou graduated from Fowler High School. In 1951, he was drafted to serve in the Korean War and was stationed in Japan. After his military service, Lou married and started a family in St. Johns, Michigan, as a farmer. In 1957, the family moved to Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, where he attended Central Michigan University, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education.

Lou began his teaching career in Howell, Michigan, where he also coached football. In 1966, Lou and his young family moved to Lansing, Michigan, to begin his career with the State of Michigan as an appraiser. He retired from the State of Michigan in 1994.

Lou was a devoted and loving father to David (Tina), LuAnn (Hunt), and Kaye (Michael). He was adored by his grandsons, Jason (Angie), Peter (Rachel), Nicholas (Denise), Ian (Allison), and Reid (Alexandria), and he relished his time with his great grandchildren, Danielle, Maria, Isabella, May, Olivia, Luka, Oliver, Matilda, Brooks, Palmer, Hayes, Emilia, Henry, and Maeve, with another great grandchild due in March 2026.

Lou had a servant's heart and was an active member of the St. Gerard Catholic Church community for over 60 years where he focused many of his volunteer efforts and participated in the annual 5K run well into his 80's. He was also a proud veteran and was a member of VFW Post 701.

He is survived by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, as well as four siblings: Rosemary (Gideon) Marsal, James (Bernie) Fox, Clare (Nancy) Fox, and Marlene (Larry) Kreiger, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Fox and Susan Fox, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, Paul (Helen), Mark (Marie), Hugo (Lucille), Lloyd (Ione), Claude, John (Shirley), Marvin, and Ambrose, and his stepmother, Martha (Lenneman) Fox.

Lou was known for his quick wit and sense of humor, and found joy on the golf course, at his grandchildren's sporting events and activities, during family card nights, and through his many trips to California and around the world. He lived his life with kindness, generosity, and compassion. His commitment to his faith was unwavering.

A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, February 24, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 515 E. Knight Street, Eaton Rapids, Michigan, with Rev. Fr. Mark Martin presiding. Lou's family will receive visitors one hour prior to the mass. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2520 West Willow Street, Lansing, Michigan, immediately following mass.

We take comfort in the knowledge that Lou has found eternal peace and rest with his Creator.
