Ronald Morris Severance

Ronald M. Severance died February 4, 2026 at the age of 89 in Grand Ledge MI after a brief illness. A long time Lansing resident, Ronald was born in Pittsford, MI on April 11, 1936 to Iva (Fisher) and Morris Severance. Ronald graduated from Tri-State College in Angola IN in 1958 and began his 36 year career as a Senior Project Designer with General Motors - Oldsmobile Division retiring in 1994.

Ronald married his beloved wife, Sharon (Boydston) on December 22,1956 and recently they celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Ron was an avid golfer for over 50 years and played on many Oldsmobile golf leagues. He was an MSU basketball season ticket holder for over 45 years and a longtime member of the MSU Rebounder's Club. His passion for classic Oldsmobiles led him to be an active member in the RE Olds Chapter of the Oldsmobile Club of America for over 35 years. He was a blood donor for over 30 years and an active member of the YMCA for over 50 years. Among Ron's other interests were bowling, downhill skiing, and running where he completed over 30 5k and 10k runs. He was a volunteer at Ingham Medical and McLaren Hospitals for over 40 years. He and Sharon loved to travel across the US and Europe. Above all, Ron loved his family. He was extremely proud of his children and grandchildren. He loved family activities and teaching his grandchildren to golf and water ski.

Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard and sister-in-law, Sylvia Severance. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughter, Kristi (Philip) Broessel, son, Craig (Lin) Severance, grandchildren, Katie Broessel, Kelli Broessel, Cameron Severance and sister Marianne (Gerald) Williams and eight nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Ronald's life is planned for the Spring.
