Russell Severance Obituary

Russell P. Severance, 74
Lynn - Russell P. Severance, 74, of Lynn passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, after a lengthy illness. The son of the late Nelson E. Severance and Thurley V. (Bacheller) Johnson, he was raised in Lynn, where he resided most of his life.
Before his illness, Russell enjoyed working as a limousine driver and had previously been employed at various mental health and addictive behavior facilities around the North Shore. Russell loved music, especially that of The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles. For many years, he was also a loyal fan of the local rock group, Revolver, and eventually helped to book their performances and assisted the band's road crew, forging lifelong friendships with several of its band members and their families.
He enjoyed attending large family gatherings with his siblings, nieces, and nephews, many of whom helped with his care during his illness. Recently, while struggling with Alzheimer's, he was primarily cared for by his loving and devoted sister and brother-in-law, Julie Simard and Gary Colclough of Lynn, along with the dedicated staff of Westford House in Westford, MA.
Russell is survived by his 6 children: Cynthia M. Beckhusen and her husband, Frank of Salem; Paula M. Hatfield and her husband, Adam of Nahant; Michael P. Severance and his wife, Christine of Lynn; Melissa A. Landry and her husband, Jean of Leominster; Christopher R. Severance and his wife, Courtney Edwards of Lee, NH; and Kimberly L. Klein and her husband, Corey of Leominster.
He also leaves 17 grandchildren: Jenna, Hannah, and Hailey Beckhusen, all of Salem; Adam and Ryleigh Hatfield of Nahant; Ariana Severance of Essex; Mathieu Severance of Lynn; Andrew Mitchell of Danvers; Ryan and Callia Landry of Leominster; Christopher Edwards, Julian Severance, Adriana Severance, and Ava Severance, all of Lee, NH; Elias Rivera, Lily Klein, and Ryn Klein, all of Leominster.
In addition to Julie Simard and her husband Gary Colclough, Russell is also survived by his sisters: Kathleen A. Rodriguez of Lynn; Andrea M. Carey and her husband, Timothy of Boxborough; Elizabeth "Betty" Cushman and her companion, Scott Beveridge of Lynn; and Stacey E. Cushman and her companion, Robert D. Williams, Sr. of Lynn; his brother, John J. Cushman of Rockland, several beloved nieces and nephews, and his ex-wife and dear friend, Karen Barnes of Haverhill.
He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jasmine Swan, his siblings, Mary L. Cushman, Arthur N. Severance, and Richard "Tommy" T. Cushman, his stepfather, Richard M. Cushman, and his first wife and friend, Janice (Mayne) Sketchley.
