Eva Barbara "Greene" Benton

Eva Barbara (Greene) Benton, age 84, of Lynn, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Benton.

Born in Boston in 1941, Eva was the daughter of the late William Greene and Hope R. (Stewart) Greene. She was raised and educated in Boston, Massachusetts. Eva was lovingly raised by her grandparents in Summer Circle, Mrs. Barbara (Hector) Anderson and Terrell Anderson, who played a significant role in shaping the strong, faithful, and family-centered woman she became. She later made Lynn her home, where she built a life rooted in family, generosity, and love. In her early years, she worked at the Paper Factory.

Eva found joy in the simple things like music, playing Bingo, thrift shopping, and spending time with her family. She was especially known for her handmade birthday banners, lovingly created for each family member year after year. Eva's door was always open to anyone in need, and she was never too busy for a heartfelt conversation and a cup of coffee. Everyone knew that if you showed up at Eva's door, coffee in hand was required.

Family was everything to Eva. She cherished her role as a grandmother and took great pride in helping raise her grandson Keenan. She also loved watching all four of her grandsons play sports, cheering them on with pride at every game and practice - moments that brought her endless joy.

Eva is survived by her daughters, Hope Greene and her fiancé Randy Guy of Lynn, Shrae and Nicole. Benton both of Lynn; her sons, David Greene of Peabody, William Greene of Fall River, and Joseph Benton of Lawrence; her grandchildren, Jaman, Amber, Ke'Arra, Ashley, Marquise, Keenan, his Fiance'Magnelis, Kadeem, Nevaeh, Ava, and Anthony; her great-grandchildren, Nashaun, Georgie-Belle, Kayden, Mitchell, Saniya, KaVaughn, Aaliyah, and Jaliyah; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Eva was predeceased by her husband, Benjamin Benton; her daughter, Hope; and her favorite son, Charlie "Chill" Greene, who faithfully showed up every Wednesday with coffee, scratch tickets, and quarters for her laundry.

Eva was the heart and soul of her family, and in her words and in her life, she showed us every day that God is good.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026 in the Greater Bethlehem Temple Pentecostal Church, 21 Light St., Lynn, MA at 11a.m. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visitation will be at the church, on Friday, from 10-11a.m., prior to the Funeral Service.
