Major Richard A. Beitz, USARMY Retired, passed away on August 13, 2024. He was born on August 23, 1934 in Buffalo, NY.
Major Beitz was peacetime drafted into the Army in 1958 and attended Officer Candidate School, Infantry Officer Basic Course and Airborne (paratrooper) School at Fort Benning, GA. In 1960 he was named Lieutenant of the Year at Fort Dix, NJ. Major Beitz served two and a half tours in Vietnam earning the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star. He retired in 1978 after 20 years of service.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday September 7, 2024 at 11am at Holy Rest Cemetery in Cheektowaga, NY.
