John M. Beitz

John Michael Beitz, Jr. passed away on April 6, 2024, at the age of 83. He was born on
February 6, 1941, in Perth Amboy, NJ and continued living there before moving to
Hopelawn in 1984. He was predeceased by his parents, John Michael Beitz, Sr. and
Anne Beitz (nee Egan), and his sisters, Anne Shoblock and Mary Zaccardo. He spent
two years in the Naval Reserves starting in 1958 before joining the U.S. Navy in 1960
from which he was honorably discharged in 1964. He started working for S.B. Thomas,
Inc. in 1970 holding various positions and remained with the company throughout many
corporate transitions until he retired in 2011. He enjoyed vacationing with his family
during the summer, travelling around the U.S. Later, he and his wife travelled
throughout Europe and when both retired, they spent a month driving across the U.S.
from New Jersey to California. He also enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden,
something he did every summer and watching football and horse racing. He belonged
to the Tin Can Sailors Organization for Navy Veterans. He was also a member of St.
James Church in Woodbridge. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor (nee Ribarcik) whom
he married in 1966; daughter, Eileen; son, Joseph and his wife, Christine;
granddaughters, Alexandria and Alyssa; and many nieces and nephews. Donations

A wake will be held Wednesday, April 10, from 4-7 pm at the Gustav J. Novak Funeral
Home in Perth Amboy. On April 11, a viewing will be held from 9:15 to 10:00 at the
funeral home, followed by a prayer service. A Mass of Resurrection will be at St. James
Church in Woodbridge at 10:30, Thursday, April 11.
