Richard W. Berardy, 80, of Bristol, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his own home on Thursday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Cormier) Berardy. Richard was born in New Britain on December 15, 1944, and was the son of the late Silvio and Angelina Maria (Damiano) Berardy. He graduated from Plainville High School where he excelled in football, basketball and track and field, which he still holds a record in the javelin which has yet to be broken. A carpenter by trade, he was a proud member of the Carpenters Union Local 24 which is now known as Local 326. Richard was a very active member of the Bristol Senior Center where he made countless friends. He organized the first ever pickleball league and loved to

attend the dances with his wife Carol. He was always there to lend a hand with the day-to-day activities. Richard loved to play softball, cornhole, golf and tennis. He and his brother Joe also loved to scuba dive. Richard was also a lifeguard and swim instructor, teaching many of the neighborhood kids to swim. He absolutely loved children and was a father figure to many of the kids that hung out at his house. He was an avid UConn fan, supporting the team in all of the sports and cheered for the Red Sox and the Patriots. However, it was the role of provider, husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and King of the Dad Jokes is what he will be best remembered for. Besides his wife of 61 years, Carol, he is survived by his three children, daughters Tammy Blanco and her husband Rafael of Bristol, Vikki Paull and her husband Stephen of East Greenwich, RI and also by his son Rick Berardy of Bristol. He was a proud grandfather to Benjamin, Elijah, Gabie, Rylie, Carson, Cierra, Abby and Michael, and by two brothers , Joseph Berardy and his wife Sandra of Montville and Daniel Berardy and his wife Brenda of Plainville and by several nieces and nephews. All services for Richard will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richards memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
