Richard Berube Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hope Memorial Chapel - Biddeford on Mar. 6, 2026.
Richard (Dick) Berube, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on March 1, 2026 at Maine Medical Center surrounded by his family. Richard was born on January 30, 1957 in Biddeford to George and Dorothy Berube. He attended Thornton Academy, graduating in 1975. He married Tammy O'Brien on April 16, 1982.

His first few years of employment included food delivery for various companies. He spent the last 30 years of employment as an oil delivery driver for various oil companies. He fully retired on February 26, 2026.

Richard's pride and joy were his daughters and grandsons. He took his family to Disney World multiple times, engaging in pin collecting /trading, attending dance recitals, coaching softball teams and just being there when they needed.

With the grandsons, he was often seen playing football, soccer and baseball on the front lawn. He tried his best to attend their athletic games. He got them engaged in sports card collecting. He recently turned a bedroom into a video game room and a couple days before he died he was trying to learn the tricks of the NHL game to be able to beat his grandsons.

Richard will be best known for his ability to make everyone laugh. Family and friends always commented on his genuine interest in others lives and his sense of humor. His wife was often the butt of his jokes but she didn't mind and laughed along. His sense of humor helped them manage several medical conditions and family challenges. His quick wittiness will be truly missed.

Richard also shared a special bond with his brother-in-law, Mike O'Brien, who considered him not just family, but truly a brother. The two shared many sports-related traditions and moments together, and those times meant a great deal to both of them. Mike will deeply miss those shared games, conversations, and the friendship they built over the years.

Richard's laughter, kindness, and playful spirit brought comfort and joy to everyone who knew him. His quick wit and warm heart will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will continue to live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched.

Richard was predeceased by his mother Dorothy (Gilbert), his father George, and his brother Robert.

Richard is survived by his wife Tammy, his daughters Ashley and Alyssa Hunnewell (son in law Todd), his grandsons Eli and Peyton Hunnewell, and Jaxon Jeanneret, his sister Marguerite, several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service that will take place in the spring will be announced at a later date.
