Richard S. Burcher, 85, of Malta, Ohio, passed away at his home at 10:32 am on Sunday (Nov. 24) at his home. He was born on December 15, 1938, in Athens County, OH, a son of Wilbur Burcher and Freda Davis Burcher.
He was a member of the Pennsville Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from by Columbia Gas Transmission Company as a Supervisor after 38 ½ years of service.
On May 29, 1965, he married Mary Schofield who survives with their daughter, Michelle Burcher of the home, brother Gary (Lorrie) Burcher of Glouster, OH and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers: Harry, Bill, Tom, Paul, Jim and David and 3 sisters: Virginia Shirley, Edith Gilkey and Rosemary Hinton.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Nov. 27) at 12:00 noon at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with burial following in Salem Township Cemetery. Family will greet friends before the service beginning at 10:00 until the time of the service. Messages of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.Lankfordfh.com.
