Richard Lynn Burton

Richard Lynn Burton, age 73, of Iola, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, October 22, 2025.

Richard was born on July 17, 1952, to Richard "Dick" Bartlett and Sarah "Sadie" (Sorenson) Burton. He was later adopted and raised by Lyle Burton, whom he loved and thought of as his dad. After being separated from his biological father for most of his life, Richard and his father were blessed to reconnect in 2017. The two quickly grew close, cherishing every moment and making up for lost time.

Richard worked as an auto mechanic for over 50 years and owned and operated RB Auto Shop in Iola for 24 years until his illness caused him to close the business. He was known for his strong work ethic, skill, and honesty. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

An avid hunter and fisherman, Richard loved the outdoors and spent countless hours doing what brought him peace. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at the age of 11 and remained faithful to his Lord throughout his life as a member of the Baptist faith. He was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in Garnett, Kansas.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard "Dick" Bartlett and Sarah "Sadie" Burton; stepfather, Lyle Burton; brother, Michael Burton; sister, Susan Burton; son, Robert Burton; his grandparents; and step-brother, Doug Burton.

He is survived by his children, Rick Burton of Arkansas, Paul Burton (Linette) of Iola, Ginger Burton (Kenny) of Iola, and Mark Burton of Iola; grandchildren, Tyton Burton, Wyatt and Marshall Jensen, Autumn Buchanan, and Amelia and Isaac Burton; stepsisters, Jane Little and Jacque (Mike) Hickman.

Richard also leaves behind his best friend and soulmate, Wanda Mantooth; Wanda's daughters, Michele Hafer (Ken) and Jennifer Keller (Adam); along with their children, Lucas, Alexis, Makayla, and Isaac. All of whom loved Richard dearly and considered him family.

Richard will be remembered for his kind heart, loyalty, giving spirit and the many ways he quietly helped those around him. His legacy will live on in the lives of those who loved him.

A Funeral Service for Richard will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, located at 1883 Hwy 54, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Mapleton Cemetery, in Mapleton, Kansas.

Memorials in his honor can be made out to Wings of Warriors and left in the care of Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
