Richard William Bushmeyer peacefully passed away at home in Nokomis, FL surrounded by his loving family on December 4, 2023.
Born May 3, 1922, in Levee Township in Illinois, he was the third son of Frederick and Hazel Bushmeyer. He married his beloved wife Elsie (Leaver) in 1951. She preceded him in death in 1972.
Together they shared five children - Mary (PJ) Prindiville, Jane (Jeff) Schaub, Clark (Tammy) Bushmeyer, Sarah (Matt) Trojniar, Beth (Dennis) Nelson. Richard cherished his 8 wonderful grandchildren (and their spouses) and 7 beautiful great grandchildren.
He is also survived by dearly loved nieces, nephews and friends.
Richard volunteered to serve in WW2. He served as an officer with honor and distinction in the Army Air Corp. After the war, he completed his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Engineering.
His career focus was aligned with his life-long passion for agriculture in designing safer and more efficient farming equipment. He will be dearly missed by all that loved him. With deep faith and conviction (believing in God, country and family above all else) - he was a generous, philanthropic, kind, brilliant, selfless and humble gentleman. He was grateful to spend his retirement years focused on his family (immediate and extended), dear friends, pets and love of golf.
He was grateful to the many compassionate family members and earthly angels that blessed him with care and love in recent years/months.
Richard did not want a funeral (in his true thoughtful nature, he never wanted to burden anyone). At a later date, the immediate family will share in a joyful celebration of his life.
Memorials in his memory are welcome to a charity of your choosing. To share a memory of Richard or to send a condolence to the family visit www.farleyfuneralhome.com
