Richard Michael Carrio, known affectionately as Rick or Ricky to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025, at his home in Boxford, MA. Born on March 13, 1949, in Boston, MA., Rick lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and wisdom. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend who left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched.
Rick was a proud graduate of Boston State College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Western New England College where he completed a Criminal Justice program. After completing his education, he served his country with distinction as a member of the United States Navy. His sense of duty continued as he became a respected Boston Police Officer, a role he retired from after many years of honorable service.
Rick lived with unwavering support for his family and friends. He was the cornerstone of his family, sharing his life with his beloved wife Liane Carrio and his children, Jeff Carrio of Boxford and Nicole Graziano of Newton. He is survived by his brothers, Steven (Skip) Carrio and his wife Jackie of Stoughton, Edward(Eddie) Carrio and his wife Cathy of West Roxbury, his sister, Jane Carrio and her partner Ginny Trainor of Marshfield. He was also the brother of the late Linda Carrio. He was a devoted son to the late Ernest and Audrey Carrio. His legacy will continue through his adoring grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Rick's interests were as diverse as his skills. He had a passion for the open road, which he explored on his Harley Davidson, and he found solace in the serene summers spent on Lake Winnipesaukee. His sense of humor, wisdom, and knowledge of "building" that he loved to share were qualities that endeared him to many and made him the go-to person in times of need. He was musically inclined and loved singing Do Wop in the acapella band "The Echos" he founded along with his brother Skip and lifelong friends, Ralph, Tommy and Billy. He was an amazing cook who loved to share his delicious recipes for sauce and Chicken Marsala. Despite the best of efforts, no one could ever replicate his dishes. :)
As someone who valued the strength of friendship and the bonds of family. He was always ready with a joke to brighten someone's day or a piece of advice to guide them through tough times. His favorite saying was "It's better than a sharp stick in the eye"
Richard "Rick" Carrio's journey on earth has ended, but his story will be told for generations. He navigated life's challenges with grace and courage, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. His memory will be cherished and kept alive in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. We take solace knowing that Rick's wit and warmth will remain with us.
Rest in peace, dear Rick. Your spirit will forever live on.
