Richard Douglas Carter, affectionately known as Jack, was born on April 14, 1967, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He passed away on October 22, 2025, in Slidell, Louisiana. A resident of Fayetteville, Tennessee, Jack was known for his love of adventure and the great outdoors, often spending time fishing and exploring nature with his beloved dog, Kita. Being a former pilot, he was a devoted enthusiast of flight simulation programs, finding joy and freedom in the virtual skies that reflected his lifelong love of aviation.
Jack cherished the moments he spent with his family. He is survived by his ex-wife, Paulette Carter, and his three children: Skyler Carter, Levi Carter (Keri Rogers), and Lauren Carter (Matt Honea). Jack was also a proud grandfather to Aiden, Brycen, Adrianna, Bryleigh, Linley, and Aceynn, who brought him immense joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Carter; his mother, Phyllis Ray Carter; and his sister, Debbie White (Danny).
Jack’s spirit will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love for family and a passion for life that touched those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
