Richard Castañeda Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Castillo Funeral Home on Dec. 22, 2025.
Richard Castañeda, Jr. was called home peacefully by the Lord on December 15, 2025. He was 72 years old. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 30, 1953. He is reunited with his parents Richard and Rosa Castañeda. He was loved very much and will be dearly missed by his sister Dora Magallanez (Adolph), niece Valerie Magallanez and all of the Magallanez family as well as extended family members and friends.

Richard Castañeda, Jr. was a ray of light in our lives and always had a smile to share with everybody. He loved to dance and listen to Tejano music and drinking Big Red. His favorite artist was Vicente Fernandez and he enjoyed singing along to his songs. Heaven has gained our most beloved blessing and in return we have a new guardian angel watching over us. He will live forever in our hearts and we will cherish great memories of him.

Dora, I hope even though your world may seem dark right now, you will soon be able to see light in the sweet memories Jr. left you with. We were in elementary school when I met you both, he had such a sweet soul. God blessed him with many years, and it is now time for him to rest. My sincere condolences my friend.

Jr, I will always cherish every summer spent visiting Tia Rosa's house since I can remember driving from Tucson in the lovely months of July or August. I remember listening to you play the accordion and singing along with the Tejano song playing on the radio. You were always neatly dressed with a freshly ironed shirt and jeans which you yourself would iron on your own. There wasn't anything you couldn't do for yourself very independent. I also recall the excitement in your face whenever you got the chance to go out dancing. You will be deeply missed primo but you are now with my Tia Rosa and Tio Richard resting in peace. May you sing and dance with the angels in our Gods beautiful heaven
