Richard Clark Claveloux, 87, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on October 27, 2025, just six days shy of his 88th birthday.
Born on November 2, 1937, in Washington, D.C., Richard was the son of the late Richard Vincent Claveloux and Helen Clark Claveloux. His family moved to Chester, Pennsylvania, for a couple of years before settling in Wilmington, where he spent most of his life.
Richard served a short time in the U.S. Navy, which marked the beginning of a life dedicated to hard work and caring for his family and everyone he met. He began his working life at the young age of 8, helping to deliver bread. Over the years, he drove tractor trailers, became an auto mechanic, and enjoyed a long and successful career with IBM. His passion for auto mechanics remained with him throughout his life.
Richard loved helping others and cherished conversations with everyone he met. He had a gift for storytelling, often sharing engaging tales that brought joy and laughter to those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Evelyn Claveloux, as well as his three children and their spouses: Mark Claveloux (Donna), Debbie Hudson (Ken Sr.), and Renee Richmond (Joe). He is also survived by his eight grandchildren: Janice Davila (Jose), Trevor Richmond (Abigail), Alissa Tidwell (Brad), Christina Olliver, Richard Claveloux (Jamie), Ken Jr., Mark Hudson (Lauren), and Mollie Denham (John), along with 12 cherished great-grandchildren: Michael, Hanna, Olivia, Lily, Delilah, Jose Jr., Asher, Nolan, Rylind, Lucas, Cole, and Aila; and his two sisters, Nancy Ciarlo (John) and Lucy Stephens. Richard will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his work ethic, and the kindness he showed to everyone he encountered.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, November 3rd, 2025 from 4-6PM at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808.
