Richard Joseph Otto Daffner, age 80, of Bear, DE, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2026.

Born in Winnipeg, MB, Canada on May 19, 1945, he was the 7th of 8 children and only son of the late Joseph and Pauline (Muth) Daffner. Richard grew up in Matsqui, BC and moved to Ashcroft, BC where he met and married his wife Mary Margaret "Marny" (Hill) in 1967. They raised their family in Ashcroft and then moved to Kamloops, BC. In 1971 Richard completed his machinist and millwright apprenticeships and worked for 35 years before retiring from the trades. After the passing of Marny in 2013, Richard met and married Elizabeth Sandra "Sandi" (Fuller) Carl, moved to the US and settled in Bear, DE. Richard loved a good game of cribbage and tinkering with his tools in his workshop, building this and that over the years.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his wife Marny, his sisters Pauline "Polly" Deptuck, Loretta Young and Lily Hoshowski. He is survived by his son, Brenton (Rebecca) Daffner and grandchildren Erich, Bailey and Ryan, his daughter Amanda (Geordie) Erickson and grandchildren Sasha and Kiefer, his loving wife Sandi and bonus grandchildren Theo and Hudson, his sisters Josie Lange, Mary Lou Smiley, Diane (Joe) Kazinci and Joanie Paladino, and a host of nieces and nephews.

All services will be held privately.
