Richard Hamilton Davis (Rich), age 93, was born July 14th, 1930 and went home to be with Jesus on January 19th 2024, surrounded by his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Trula Papuchis Davis; parents Dorothy May Davis and Glenn Arthur Davis; daughter Edith Davis Mynatt; granddaughter Emily Davis Courtney.

Rich is survived by his son and daughter in law, Glenn and Nathalie Davis Au.D; daughter and son in law, Dorothy and Rich Walker; and daughter, Trula Davis OD; loving grandchildren, Robert DO (Jessica  DO); Jessica (Jarrod); Allison (Charles); Elizabeth (Hunter); Joshua (Ellie); Claire; Kate; and Richard (RJ); his beautiful great-grandchildren Kaden, Mason, Jordan, Emma, Olivia, Samuel, Ella, Wesley, Ruby, Milla, Lennon and Rhett.

Rich was born in Newark, New Jersey, as an only child. At a young age, his family moved to Cedar Rapids, Iowa until he graduated high school. He then moved to Miami to attend the University of Miami in Coral Gables for two years. Rich then transferred to Iowa State College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in

Mechanical Engineering. He and his family moved back to Miami, where he worked with his uncle at a moving company. Rich met his loving wife, Trula at church, and they were married in 1955. She encouraged Rich to find employment in engineering. His first job in engineering was with Pan Am at Patrick Air Force Base in Cape Canaveral. A few years later he was hired by GE in Philadelphia,

Pennsylvania. It was while he lived in Philadelphia that he received his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1976, he and Trula relocated to Brentwood, Tennessee to be close to her family. They resided there until his death. His career spanned a wide range of opportunities. Of note, Rich was an active Professional Engineer (PE) in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Tennessee until the time of his death.

In 2012, he assisted his youngest daughter in drawing all building plans for her new optometry building. Rich also started Davis Engineering Company in the 70’s and remained active in this for years.

Rich was a longtime member of Brentwood United Methodist Church. He was very active in multiple orchestras, including Brentwood United Methodist Church, Brentwood Baptist Church, Williamson Community Orchestra and Nashville Community Orchestra. He was the oldest member of all the orchestras. His first instrument was the trumpet but ended playing the French Horn later in his life.

Rich’s second favorite activity was singing in choirs. He regularly would sing in Brentwood United Methodist Choir. He was also known to sing at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, while visiting his oldest daughter in Knoxville, Tennessee. Rich showed his family love, when he would call and sing Happy Birthday. The family looked forward to their birthday call every year.

A celebration of life is scheduled for February 10th, 2024, visitation at 10 am, with the funeral service to follow at 11 am. All services will be held at Brentwood United Methodist Church, 309 Franklin Road, Brentwood, Tennessee 37027.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rich’s name may be made to: The Shalom Foundation, PO Box 1354, Franklin, Tennessee 37065.
