At 91 years, Richard "Dick" David Davis, beloved husband of the late Sue Ann Davis, passed on, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at home.Dick was born on March 7, 1934, in Mount Zion, Illinois, a cherished son of the late Newton David Davis and Anna Josephine Davis.

He was raised in Decatur, Illinois and graduated from Lakeview High School, Class of 1952. Dick then enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country as a Machinery Repairman Petty Officer First Class aboard Destroyers during the Korean War era from 1953-1957. He continued his education attending Millikin University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree, graduating in 1963.

Dick was employed as a manufacturing engineer and manager for 46 years, bringing computer and other numerical control technology into manufacturing systems. He worked for several companies, starting with Caterpillar and ending with General Electric.

He was a Tin Can Sailor and long time member of the National Association of Destroyer Veterans.

In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, designing and building a new kitchen for his Suzie, making toys for kids and thousands of crosses which a friend distributed in Greenville South Carolina, and he was an avid golfer. He was also an accomplished player of Trombone, Organ and Clarinet.

Dick is survived by his two sons, Richard David Davis Jr. of Andover, CT and Brandon Wells Davis of Manchester, CT, his cherished granddaughter, Andrea Megan Saucier, her husband, Craig Saucier and their son, Zachary Saucier, all of Tolland, CT. Other family includes his sister, Cheri (Davis) Hunter of Decatur, Illinois, his brother, Larry Eugene Davis and his wife, Ok Bun of Seoul, South Korea, three step brothers, Melvin Wilber of FL, Sidney Wilber of IN, and Barton Wilber of KY, and many nieces, nephews and their families.

A graveside service with Military Honors will take place in the Townsend Cemetery at 43 Townsend Road in Andover, CT 06232, on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 10:00 am. There are no calling hours.
