In Loving Memory of Richard Davis
August 19, 1951 – December 8, 2025

Richard Davis, beloved husband, father, "Pops/Papa," brother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.

Born on August 19, 1951, to Mamie Lou and William Davis, Richard grew up in Pasadena, Texas, where there were plenty of stories about him as a boy who kept his mom on her toes. Over the years, that spirited young man grew into a loving, hard-working man of faith who cherished his family above all else.

He is survived by his loving wife, Wanda of 53 years; daughters Hollie Williamson (and husband Jake Williamson) and Erin Davis; and his grandchildren, Landry and Luke Williamson and William Moore-his greatest joys and the proudest titles he ever held. He is also survived by his sister, Vicki Knight, nephew Harvey Burns and wife Brittany, niece Cheryl Hill and husband Ron, sister-in-law Judy Rummel and husband John, and countless friends who became like family over the years. Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Mamie Lou and William Davis.

Richard found his greatest happiness in simple pleasures-floating down the Frio River with family, swapping stories and playing dominos around the campfire while listening to music at the deer lease with his buddies, and working side by side with Wanda in their yard with their crazy Ziggy dog.

He was a proud dad, a loyal friend, and-by his own admission-a little grumpy now and then, but always in the best interest of others. Beneath that gruff exterior was a generous heart, a strong faith, and a man who quietly looked out for everyone around him. Known at the holidays as "Santa Pops," Richard loved bringing joy to others, especially his grandkids. Even at the very end, he showed that same giving spirit-gifting each and every nurse who cared for him with a prayer cross and a handwritten note of appreciation for their kindness and compassion.

Richard worked at Hoechst Celanese for many years before retiring. Just a few years later, retirement couldn't hold him down and he found his way to Enterprise Products, as a Senior Technical Writer, a job he truly loved and one that brought him purpose and good friendships. His work ethic, loyalty, and humor made him a favorite among coworkers-though they'd all agree he never sugarcoated a thing.

Richard's steady presence will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the stories and love he shared with all who knew him.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, December 12 th at Lomax Baptist Church 11303 N. H Street in La Porte, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to the American Cancer Society or plant something beautiful in your yard-just like Richard would have done.
