Richard F. Demler, age 85, of Silver Cliff, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024 with his family by his side. He was born December 21, 1938 near Chilton, WI to Dr. James J. Demler and Anastasia M. (Rolf) Demler.
After High School, he joined the Army Reserves and shortly after married the love of his life Ann G. (Zimmerman) Demler. They married in June of 1960 and recently celebrated 64 wonderful years together. He earned a degree as a Barber and started his career in East DePere. After this, they moved to Stockbridge where he opened his own barber shop. Even though he loved cutting people’s hair, he decided that he had a different calling and sold the barber shop to become an electrician. He learned the trade on the job and eventually bought the business with his co-worker. He was an electrician up until the time he retired in 2000. After he retired, he and Ann moved to their cabin in the town of Silver Cliff in northern Wisconsin.
Richard was resourceful, hardworking, loving and dedicated to his family. He was the type of person that could look at problem and create a solution whether the solution was mechanical or emotional. He had the brain of an engineer, but never received a diploma to prove it. Besides his family and friends, he had three passions: hunting, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved going to the grandkids sporting events. Of course, he always had to give them pointers on how to improve. His passion with hunting took him to different states. He hunted elk in Colorado, pigs in Texas, and deer in Montana and Wisconsin. His favorite hunting was rabbits with his Beagles. His passion with fishing took him to Canada and Minnesota. He and Ann would go with friends or by themselves. No matter who went, they always had a good time.
He is survived by his wife Ann (Zimmerman) Demler, two children Joseph Demler (Colleen Brassow Demler) and Patrick Demler (Hugo Gil), and two grandchildren Marie Demler and Erik Demler.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents James and Anastasia Demler, brothers James Demler and Rodney Demler, and sisters June Bostwick, Jackie Custer, Martha Little, and Beverly Schoenung.
The family would like to thank the staff at Unity Hospice for the support they provided.
Per Richard’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Instead, a Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday August 30, 2024 from 2pm until 4pm at Malcore (West) Funeral Home, 1530 W Mason St, Green Bay, WI 54303.
In lieu of flowers and plants, a memorial of any type can be made to the Salvation Army in Richard’s name.
