Richard (Dick) F. Dill Sr.

RICHARD (DICK) F. DILL, SR. Dick, 85, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 16, 2017. He was born February 20, 1931 in Thibodaux, LA. to Rodger and Kathleen (Nichols) Dill. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1948 to 1951. He was honorably discharged as a Sergeant, and was the recipient of two Purple Hearts, a Korean Service Silver Star and a Presidential Citation. Happily married in 1952 to Bertha Louise Skerkowski of Beaver Falls, PA., until her passing in July of 2013. Settling in Detroit, MI. Dick worked for General Motors from 1953-1985, retiring to the Palm Springs area later that same year. While living in Michigan they loved to go camping with family and friends. Dick and Bertha raised five loving children, Carol (Joseph), Judith, Richard, Jr., Lori (Hemner), and Diane (David). His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren: David, Lita, Chelsea, Ben, Samantha and Sydney. He also has four great-grandchildren: Hunter, Brendan, Skylar and Ryder. They loved to dance, play cards and be with family. Dick was an avid golfer and served as President of the Men's Club during his time at PDGCC. Dick was preceded in death by his older brothers Bud and Rex. He is survived by his sister, Jean. FitzHenry-Wiefels Palm Desert has been entrusted with arrangements.
