Richard E. Dickerson Sr., son of the late Nathan and Alberta Dickerson was born on October 28, 1957, in Philadelphia Pa. He attended schools in the Pennsylvania area and was a graduate of Olney High School. In his early 20' s he joined the United States Army and received high honors and rank as a Sargeant. After being honorably discharge, he became a Chaser, better know as a "Bounty Hunter." Richard switched careers to Law Enforcement. First as a Correctional Officer then he became a Police Officer where he also received high honors. He later retired from the Kingsmill Police Department. He really enjoyed life and his career surrounded by family & friends.
Richard gained his wings on December 29, 2022, surrounded by loved ones. He was a Joy to be around and would give you the shirt off his back. He was truly a beautiful soul and will be greatly missed.
His life will forever be cherished by his children, David Alexander of Texas, Marcus Alexander of Phila, Pa, Jeaneen Watson (Alexander) of VA, Jessica Dickerson of Phila, Pa, and Richard Dickerson Jr. of GA; daughters-in-law, Alesha, Guinevere, and Jillian; sons-in­-law, Abdul and Robert; grandchildren, Xavier, Donovan, Cassidy, Tenya, Andrew, Christopher, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Lily, Allison, Nasir, Saniyah, Peyton, Jamar, Michael, Mason, Dickie, E' Mani, Ethan, William, and Jasmyn; mother of his children, Sherrise; brother, Alexander Peterkin; sister-in-law, Tonya Peterkin; nieces, Alexandria and Jaylyn; nephew, Justin; his best friend, Cheryl Lynn "Beaver"; and a host of devoted cousins and friends.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 9, 2023, with a time of reflections with military honors starting at 12:00 p.m., in Whiting's Funeral Home. Facial coverings are required.
