Richard Vanice Dickinson

Richard Vanice Dickinson, born November 20, 1953, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 15, 2026, surrounded by his family, after a life defined by hard work, sacrifice, and a deep love for his family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Dickinson; his father, Vanis Dickinson; and his wife, Lisa Dickinson, whom he loved completely and without condition.

Richard is survived by his six children, Pamela Mitchell (Kevin), Jason Dickinson (Heidi), Stefanie Dickinson (Jesse), Richie Dickinson (Lyndsay), Casey Dickinson (Morgan), and Emilee Dickinson (Wayland); adopted son, Joe Reid (Tara); twelve grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Everything he did was for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He worked his entire life to give them a better life, never asking for recognition and never putting himself first. Loving and providing for his family was who he was, and through that love, he lived a full and meaningful life.

He leaves behind by three siblings, Donna Rose (Joel), Robert Dickinson (Linda), and Ronald Dickinson (Sherri); and sister-in-law, Ruthann Copeland (Tim).

Richard was a hardworking and dependable man with a gentle heart. He had a passion for coins and history, a quiet sense of humor, and a natural way of making people feel cared for simply by being himself. Sweet and humble, he was deeply devoted to his family and dearly loved by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A small ceremonial service will follow at 6 p.m. The interment of Richard and his late wife, Lisa, will be held at a later date.
