Richard Dickson Obituary

Richard Dickson
03/23/1944 - 01/26/2026
Richard Campbell Dickson, 81, of Houston, Texas, passed away on January 26, 2026.
Born in Farnborough, England, and raised in London, Richard was educated at Westminster School and trained at Sandhurst Military Academy. He served as an officer in the Royal Scots Regiment and later as a territorial officer, rising to the rank of Major in the Royal Scots and Gordon Highlanders. Richard lived in Scotland until 1991, when he moved to Houston. He married Cindy in 1998, and they spent many years together until she sadly passed in 2013. He was later married to Raquel, with whom he enjoyed many adventures around the globe. Richard was a devoted father and proud grandfather. He is survived by his daughters Penny, married to Chris, and Nicola, married to Nate; and by his cherished granddaughters, Tilly and Esmée. Richard had a successful career as an IT consultant which brought him to Houston where he remained for the rest of his life. Richard was deeply well-read and passionate about music, opera, theatre, museums and photography. An enthusiastic traveler, Richard explored more than 50 countries over the course of his life. He delighted in good food and wine - particularly a fine dry martini - and cherished the many friendships he formed along the way. Richard will be remembered as a loving father, proud grandfather, loyal friend, and a man of grace, intellect, curiosity, and warmth.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 17, 2026, at Christchurch Cathedral, 1117 Texas Ave, Houston, TX 77002.

May the peace of Christ be with you Nicola, as you submit to God´s will.
God gives. God takes. Why deny Him His choice.

Richard was a sweet man who was always ready for an adventure. I met him late in life and enjoyed our talks about our travels. He was always pleasant, and will be truly missed.
