Richard H. Drew, a resident of NYS Veterans Home in Montrose, NY and formerly of Middletown, NY entered int o rest on February 4, 2024. Born on December 21, 1938 in Manhattan, NY, he was the son of the late Richard and Katherine (Garrity) Drew. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from the United States Postal Service.
Richard is survived by his children, Sherri (Michael) Diaz, Gina (Richard) Stellato, Richard and James Drew; his beautiful and cherished granddaughters, Kayleigh and Ashley Stellato, Taylor (Pete) Geerlof and Skyler Drew. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 63 years, Georgia Drew, his daughter-in-law, Margaret Drew, his sisters, Patricia Simak and Maureen Halwick and brother Warren Drew.
Visitation will be from 10 to 12 noon on Friday, February 9, 2024 at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home, Inc, 130 Highland Avenue, Middletown, NY 10940. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be held at 11:30 am at the funeral home, Fr. Pablo Richmond, O. Carm will officiate. Burial with Military honors will follow in Orange County Veterans Cemetery, 111 Craigville Road, Goshen, NY 10924, where Richard and his wife Georgia will be laid to eternal rest.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at the NYS Veterans Home In Montrose for their compassion and long term care they showed Rochard during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Richard's name may be made to the United States Department of Veterans Affairs or Pets Alive 63 Derby Road, Middletown, NY 10940, https://petsalive.org/donate/.
