Richard "Dick" Duncan, 83, of Missoula, passed away July 9, 2012 at the Missoula Rehabilitative Center. He was born on August 3, 1928, a twin son of Byron and Neva Duncan in Roundup, Montana. He was raised in Missoula and Stockton, California. He graduated from San Rafael High School where he excelled in basketball. He returned to the Missoula area in 1946 and married Shirley Wagnitz on January 8, 1949. The couple made their home in Missoula and Seeley Lake. Dick was a grocery man all his life. He was vice president of the Super Save Stores in Missoula and Helena. He served as president of the Montana Grocers Association and was president of Missoula Jaycees. He and Shirley built the Seeley Lake Store and ran it until retiring in 1993. In retirement, Dick and Shirley spent time at their home on the Double Arrow in Seeley Lake and home in Sun Lakes, AZ. Dick was an avid golfer and loved spending time with his golfing buddies, especially the Road Runners, traveling to the best golf courses in the west. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Abarask and twin sisters Velma Duncan and Thelma Adlrich. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley; his son Jim (wife, Julie) of Park City, UT; two granddaughters, Ashley (husband Steve) and their children, Aubrey and Tyler of Lake Stevens, WA; and Lindsey Duncan of Kirkland, WA; two stepsons, Peter (wife Mandy) Jass of Seattle and Patrick (wife Jenn) Jass of New York City; Dick's twin brother, Robert (wife Agnes) of Stockton, CA; brother-in-law Robert Wagnitz of Hardin, MT as well as several nieces and nephews. Memorial Services will be held at Garden City Funeral Home on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 1pm, followed by a reception in the funeral home's community room. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Dick's memory to the Seeley Lake Foundation or the Seeley Lake Food Bank.
