Richard Edmondson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Lansing on Dec. 14, 2025.
Richard J. Edmondson

Of Lansing, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the age of 96.

Richard, affectionately known as Dick, was born on March 26, 1929, in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Robert and Helen (Harris) Edmondson. He was raised in Lansing and graduated from Eastern High School with the Class of 1947. Following high school, Dick proudly served in the United States National Guard. He was employed by the City of Lansing and also worked in residential painting before beginning a long and dedicated career with General Motors. Dick worked for GM for 30 years, retiring in 1987 as a Dye Maker.

Dick was a faithful and active member of Faith Bible Church, where he sang in the church choir and remained involved for many years. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also had a love for motorcycles and traveled across the United States with his beloved wife, Patricia. Together, they spent several winters in Arizona and New Mexico. Dick was a talented woodworker and took great pride in his craftsmanship.

Above all, Dick was a devoted grandfather who cherished the time he spent helping to raise his grandchildren and creating lasting memories with them during his retirement years.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia; and his siblings, Helen Cross and Robert Edmondson. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Robin) Edmondson and Gary (Ray Sher) Edmondson; his grandchildren, Cory (Iyo) Edmondson and Troy (Tessa) Edmondson; his great-grandchildren, Jacob and Eleanor; special friend Robert Haltom and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to Faith Bible Church in memory of Dick. To share memories or leave online condolences, please visit www.SkinnerFuneralHomes.com.
