Richard James Edwards aged 60 passed away peacefully on November 5, 2024, after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on August 20, 1964, to the late Jimmy Ruben Edwards, and Beulah Thelma Wheeler.
Rich’s father worked for the US Air Force, and he spent his childhood traveling the world from base to base. This undoubtedly sparked his love of aviation.
The Edwards family finally settled in Colorado Springs where he graduated from Thomas B Doherty High School.
Rich pursued his aviation career when he accepted a position in reservations with America West in Reno Nevada. He continued in aviation as an agent at the Colorado Springs Airport until 2000, when he accepted a job as flight attendant for American Airlines. That decision would end up changing his life forever, both personally and professionally.
It was there that he met the love of his life Philippe Robinson. Together since 2001, they settled in Euless where they bought a home and subsequently married in September 2015.
Rich’s passion was for all forms of transportation be they planes; trains or ships and he developed a love for cruise ships and cruising. Rich and Phil cruised yearly all over the world as well as numerous vacations to London and Paris which were Rich’s favorite destinations.
Rich became a flight attendant instructor, his dream job until the end of his career.
He was a simple man. He loved his husband, his home, and his dog Elvis and cats Tiger and Simba. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He had a small circle of close friends that he loved dearly.
A gentle, kind soul was lost far too soon. He passed in the arms of his husband, on his own terms, with his best friend and mother-in-law comforting him.
He will be eternally loved and never forgotten.
