Richard Irvin Ehlert, age 81, of Allen, Texas passed away on August 19, 2025. He was born on January 5, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He graduated from high school and soon after answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force. His time in the military instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and pride.
On September 5, 1964, Richard married the love of his life, Mary A. Herdman, in St. Paul Park, Minnesota. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, marked by more than six decades of unwavering devotion.
Richard was known for his steady presence, his quiet strength, and his deep love for family. Whether he was sharing stories from his service, tending to a project at home, or offering a helping hand to friends and neighbors, Richard lived with integrity and humility.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. Ehlert of Allen, Texas; son, Ryan Richard Ehlert and wife, Ronda of Chino Valley, Arizona; son, Steve E. Ehlert and wife, Mary Karyl of Allen, Texas; son, Jason R. Ehlert and wife, Megan of Anna, Texas; ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; brother, Robert Ehlert and wife, Linda of Battle Lake, Minnesota; sister, Roxanne Thompson and husband, Curt of Battle Lake, Minnesota; and a host of other loving family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Amanda Ehlert.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Allen Historical Christian Church, 450 East St Mary Drive, Allen, Texas 75002.
