Obituary published on Legacy.com by Smith-Carson Wall Funeral Home - Girard on Feb. 25, 2025.
Richard Eitel, 62, of Hepler, died unexpectantly at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2025 at his residence at rural Hepler.
He was born January 11, 1963 in Hillsboro, Kansas, a son of Gary and Juanita (Segebartt) Eitel. He attended Girard Schools before graduating from Enterprise Academy in Enterprise, Kansas.
Richard lived near Hepler most of his adult life with his parents on their farm. He loved animals and helped take care of livestock. He was always busy building and fixing things. Richard enjoyed playing with model trains. He also enjoyed watching football games on TV and watching the wintertime birds at the feeder.
Richard was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hepler, and he served as deacon and mowed the church lawns for many years. Richard will be missed until his entire family can be reunited when Jesus comes again.
Survivors include his parents, Gary and Juanita Eitel, of the home; his sisters, Connie Eitel of Girard and Karen Medcalf of Hepler; his brothers, Robert Eitel, and his wife, Julie, of Farlington and Jeff Eitel, and his wife, Brenda, of Hepler; 4 nephews, 2 nieces, 1 great-nephew and 1 great-niece.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Farlington Cemetery with Pastor Wayne Gayton officiating. Burial will follow the services.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Service arrangements are under the direction of the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard.
