Cress Funeral & Cremation Service - Madison WestRichard Carl Enger, age 86, of Madison WI passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026. He was the son of Elvin and Anna (Mueller) Enger. He is survived by his sister Ella Marie Enger, nephew Jacob Enger (Joni), niece Michelle (Michael) Brinkman, his great nieces Vanessa & Christina Brinkman and many cousins.
Richard served in the United States Army, and he was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church-Good Shepard Parish.
He enjoyed biking all over Madison and would never miss parking cars at his home for all the UW home games. Richard thoroughly enjoyed going to car shows and working on old cars with his brother Charlie before his passing in 2017, and their cousin Dan.
The Enger family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to Richard’s dear neighbors Dick and Sue, for their loving kindness and support that allowed him to live independently in his home.
Richard was a quiet, kind, gentle soul who will be missed by many, but he will live forever in our hearts.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 at St. James Catholic Church, 1204 Saint James Ct, Madison. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery; a reception will follow at St. James Catholic Church.
Please share your memories of Richard, by posting in his guestbook.
