He was the son of Mose Tichnal Epling and Hortense Arnold Epling.
He is survived by his wife, Floretta Harrington Epling; and daughters, Stella Fey Epling McBride and Renee Epling.

Flo, I was so sorry to hear about Richard. The Epling family was a great mainstay when I grew up in Gallipolis. As you know, Richard and I graduated from G.A.H.S together. It was so great to see the two of you at some of our reunions, especially our 50th. I could always count on Richard for a great lawyer story! Please know that my thoughts are with you. Richard will be sorely missed. I treasure the memories.
