Richard D. Ermentraut

Richard "Dick" Ermentraut Was born in Denver, Colorado on April 18, 1939 the son of Abigail and Ed Ermentraut. Dick passed away after an extensive battle with Alzheimer's on June 22, 2025 at 11:35 AM. He was surrounded by his brother and sister-in-law (Bill and Dee), who were there holding his hand till the very end. He is survived by his son Todd Ermentraut (his wife, Lansing Ermentraut), his daughter Christin Grover (her husband, Rich Grover), His 5 grandchildren: Jordon Ermentraut, Madison Ermentraut, Carson Ermentraut, Lange Grover, and Tanner Grover, his brother Bill Ermentraut (his wife, Denise Ermentraut), and nephews David and Mike Ermentraut.

Dick's parents (Abby & Ed) had two sons Dick and Bill, and Dick always made it known that he was the older brother. He graduated from East High School and never missed a High School Reunion. He went to college at CSU and Mesa State in Colorado. He enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Navy on June 1, 1962. We thank him for his honesty and Faithful Service. After returning home to Denver, Colorado Dick began a sucessful sales career of over 50 years selling office supplies to the downtown Denver businesses, then the Denver Tech Center and Cherry Creek Schools. Dick married Sharon Lange (Continental Flight Attendant). Dick and Sharon loved the outdoors and the beauty of Colorado. They enjoyed good times with family, friends, and neighbors in Greenwood Village, Colorado. They always chose adventure, traveling, acting in old-time movies, throwing fiestas at their home in Sundance Hills, organizing Oktoberfest parties, Fourth of July Parades, and hosting Luau's. In 1971, they had their son Todd Ermentraut, and in 1974, a daughter, Christin Ermentraut. They had a special attachment to the Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands, where Dick got his nickname "Captain Cook"; he loved soaking up the sun rays. Dick enjoyed skiing, hunting, fishing, and sailing trips with his best guy friends. He had season tickets to the Broncos and loved watching them play. He was kind, loving, funny, and loved good music and dancing. He was the best brother, husband, father, friend, and grandfather. As with his children, Dick never missed an invite to any of his five grandchildren's events. He happily attended dance recitals, soccer, lacrosse, track, cheerleading, school events, birthday parties, and graduation festivities. He spoiled his grandchildren with 2-dollar bills, cookies, popsicles, cherry cokes, and anything they wanted. He played soccer and tennis with them and hung out with them at the pool.

The loss of Richard "Dick" Ermentraut is a loss for everyone and anyone who knew him. He was truly the most kind, and giving human being. There was no one else like him! A service will be held on July 17, 2025, at Fairmount Cemetery at 10 AM. Casual dress with an island flair is encouraged. Following will be a celebration of life at 9525 E. Caley Cir. Englewood, CO. 80111 @ 1:30 pm.
