Richard Dayle Ewing, age 87, of Moberly, Missouri, passed away peacefully at home with his wife Bonnie by his side, on September 25, 2023.
Richard was born on November 5, 1935, in Macon, Missouri to Willie Lon Ewing and Justina Ann Duncan.
He graduated from Macon High School and from Truman State University in 1959 with a degree in Business Administration. In 1959, he moved to Moberly, Missouri and accepted a position as a social security field representative at the Social Security Administration, where he worked for more than 30 years and retired as a District Manager of the Northeast area. He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1957 to 1963 as Seargent and received an award as a Sharpshooter (Sergeant).
Dayle was a great family man, a character with a good sense of humor and was a great neighbor and friend. He received a Distinguished Service Award from Social Security; President of the Moberly Kiwanis and Representative for Kiwanis International; President of Moberly Housing Authority and was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed his time as a volunteer on the property committee and served as a deacon.
He married Mary Joanne Lenzini on August 12, 1958, in Macon, MO. Following Mary’s death, he married Bonnie Robinett Whorton on August 17, 2002, in Arrowrock, MO, who still survives of the home.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, working on cars, trading for new cars, maintaining his home and caring for his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, son Michael, parents, Bill and Ina, and brother-in-law and good friend, George Burch.
Dayle is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Moberly, Mo; his children, William Ewing, of Sturgeon, MO, Jim (B.J. Hall) Ewing, of Moberly, MO, Tracey (John) Forker, of Reeds Spring, MO, Linda (Robb) Lewis of Madison, MS; stepchildren, Colleen (Rich) Kargel of Chisago City, MN, Lance (Laurie) Whorton, of Navarre, FL, Zane (Kim) Whorton, of Mexico, MO; grandchildren, Olivia, Lillian, Emma, Caleb, Brenda, Anah, Tre’, Marie, Jordan, Shane, Erik, Isaac, Ian; great grandchildren, Jack, Carter, Oliver, Everhett and Luna; extended family; Laura Kay Burch, Stephanine Fahnestock, Jaxey (beloved pet) and many close friends,.
A visitation celebrating Dayle’s life will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Pathway-Millard Family Funeral Chapel in Moberly, MO. If desired, donations can be sent to First Christian Church or Moberly Housing Authority in Dayle’s memory.
