Dick was born April 9,1936, in Milwaukee, the son of Clem and Marie Field. Dick graduated from Riverside High School where he participated in sports, and excelled in football. In November of 1954, Dick married his high school sweetheart, the former Dorothy Moffatt. Dick and Dorothy lived on Milwaukee's Eastside and over the next 10 years were blessed with six children. Dick was working for G.M.A.C. in 1967 and was given a new territory that included Watertown. The Fields were happy to move their family to this beautiful small town.
Dick was a district representative for G.M.A.C. for seventeen years. Snap on Tools was Dick's next adventure followed by his own business, Watertown Tool and Supply. Dick began working for the State of Wisconsin as a Facility Repair Worker in 1989. He was able to keep the facilities he served in a high state of repair while saving money for the State. Dick received several awards for dedicated service.
Dick was an outdoors man. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed helping-out on family and friend's farms. At his home, Dick created a haven for birds with his many feeders. He and his family enjoy the flock he has attracted. Dick shared his life with many beloved pets, including a horse and many dogs.
Dick enjoyed his country home; his favorite place on the property was his workshop. One of his hobbies was restoring Allis-Chalmers tractors. He recently gifted one of his tractors to the Watertown High School Agriculture Program.
Dick and Dorothy loved to travel. They enjoyed some far off destinations, Australia and the Caribbean, but their greatest love was traveling in their RV. They enjoyed winters in Texas, visiting Alaska, and exploring all 50 states. On quiet nights around the campfire, Dick and Dorthy would reminisce about the camping they did while raising their family. The Partridge family had nothing on the Field family who spent many a fun-filled weekend in the school bus that Dick converted to a camper.
Dick is survived by his wife of 70 years, Dorothy Field; children, Robin (Bill) Sullivan, Holly Alexander, Brian (Jamie) Field, Kevin (Connie) Field, Barbara (Chip) Tesch, and Randy Field; Dick's legacy are his 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He held dear his many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Dick is preceded in death by his brothers, Robert and Dean Field, and his son-in-law, Bill Alexander. The Field family thanks Rainbow Hospice for their excellent care, guidance and support.
