Richard Dale Fox Obituary

July 29, 1940 – October 18, 2025

Richard (Dick) Dale Fox was born in Hamburg, Iowa and fondly remembered his years growing up in Riverton, Iowa. He was the son of Beulah Katherine (Johnson) and Ralph Arnold Fox.

Majoring in Geology, Dick attended Clarinda Jr. College for 2 years, graduated from Iowa State, and then earned his master's degree from the University of Montana in 1965.

He was always industrious, working during 3 summers at the Interstate Nursery in Hamburg before he started working for his uncle "Cap" Johnson constructing Butler grain bins for one summer. He spent 3 summers working for the US Forest Service in the Clearwater National Forest, where he surveyed logging roads.

Through the years Dick worked as a Geophysicist for many oil companies in West Texas, Plano, Dallas, Anchorage Alaska, and Houston. After retiring in 1998, he and Carole were fortunate to travel worldwide and enjoy their lake property.

Dick was a life-long Methodist and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who adored his family. He'll also be remembered as a good friend to many, and a person who loved being with other people

Dick is survived by his wife of 56 years: Carole J. (Cauble) Fox, his daughters: Cheryl Fox and Catherine (Cathy) Reeves, and her husband James Reeves, his grandchildren: Sofia Reeves, Anna Reeves, and Jacob Fox; his sisters: Mary McKinley, her husband Ken and their children: Carolyn, Katherine, and Michael; and Jeanette Choate, her husband Harold and daughter Kim; and other extended family members.

A celebration of Life for Dick will be held at Klein UMC on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 10 am. His ashes will rest in Klein Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dick's memory, to the Fremont County Historical Society Museum, 607 Cass St., Sidney IA 51652.
