Nancy Goan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Klein Funeral Home - Champions on Feb. 10, 2026.
Nancy Surina Goan (Scott), of Spring, TX, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 76.

Nancy was born in Dallas, TX, to William and Surina Scott (Mays). She was the oldest of three children. After graduating from Kimball High School in Oak Cliff, Nancy began working at Employers Casualty Company in downtown Dallas. There, she met Paul Goan, who would become her loving husband of 52 years.

In 1979, Paul's career moved them to Spring, TX, where they raised two daughters, Holly and Katie.

Nancy lived an enriched, active life. She served as president of the Olde Oaks Women's Club and volunteered for countless school and extracurricular activities with her girls. Most memorably, Nancy was the director of the Ponderosa Cowgirls little league drill team, alongside her best friend Elizabeth Salvaggio. Together, they led a team of 8- to 12-year-old girls to numerous competitions and awards.

Nancy had a vibrant social life and loved spending time with friends and neighbors. She enjoyed playing bridge, planning and hosting gatherings, and sharing regular date nights with Paul. A passionate animal lover, Nancy donated to numerous rescue organizations and adopted many pets over the years, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and birds. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her two grandsons.

Through Paul's work, the couple had the opportunity to travel the world. Some of Nancy's favorite destinations were Hong Kong, Scotland, Austria, and Italy. Traveling inspired Nancy and Paul to found the Houston area's first official Mardi Gras Krewe, the Knights of Dionysus. After attending Mardi Gras in Louisiana for many years, they decided to bring its traditions to Texas so other families could experience the cultural and historical significance. And of course, participate in the revelry.

Nancy had opinions and was never afraid to share them. You always knew where you stood with her - something friends and family lovingly described as a blessing and a curse. She was the epitome of a strong Southern woman and will be remembered for her outgoing personality, natural leadership and organizational skills, and fierce devotion to her loved ones.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Surina Scott; her infant brother, William Matthew; and her sister, Deborah Scott Harris. She is survived by her husband, Paul Goan; daughters and sons-in-law, Holly and Brian Reeves and Katie and Peter Arellano; grandsons, Landon and Logan Reeves; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home, 16131 Champion Forest Drive in Spring. A short graveside service will take place on Friday, February 13, at 10:00 am at Klein Memorial Park, 9714 FM 2920 in Tomball.
