Richard Frankum, 65, passed away on November 15, 2025, in Athens, Texas. He was born on February 15, 1960, to parents Barney Lee and Leona (Cagle) Frankum.
Richard was a great brother to his family and lovingly took care of Rosie for an impressive 16 years. In his later years, he found comfort in the familiarity of home, becoming more of a homebody, where his true self could shine through. Richard was a man of faith, proudly embracing his Christian beliefs, and while he often kept a low profile, he had a knack for bringing laughter to those around him with his sense of humor. He was a man of many talents and a heart full of kindness.
A true jack of all trades, Richard could turn his hand to almost anything. Whether fixing a car or building something from scratch, he approached every task with determination and skill. His love for music was evident in his passion for playing the guitar and singing, which he shared with others through countless performances. He was especially proud of the gospel band he formed with his brother Truman, a duo that brought joy to many congregations across various churches.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Leona Frankum; brother, Jimmy Lee Frankum; sister, Mary Joyce Lewis; and brother, Larry Jack Frankum.
Richard is survived by his sister, Rosie Watson of Brownsboro, Texas; brother, Howard Truman Frankum of Terrel, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
