Richard L. Gailey

Richard L. Gailey, age 90, of York, formerly of McSherrystown, passed away on February 10, 2026. He was the loving husband of the late Barbara L. (Seal) Gailey who passed away on October 15, 2008; together they shared 48 years of marriage.

Richard was born in Pikesville, MD on December 26, 1935 and was the son of the late John L. and Dorothy E. (Williams) Gailey. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and owned and operated Valley Automotive, Inc. in Garrison, MD. Richard was a member of the Littlestown Eagles, McSherrystown Moose, and Littlestown VFW. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, hot rod cars, and time spent at Tilghman Island.

Richard is survived by his daughters Alice Malinowski and husband Bernard and Darlene Groft; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Stephen Gailey and Christy Gailey. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Carl Groft, Sr; and his siblings Jacqueline Fritz, Carol Gailey, Wayne Gailey, Timothy Gailey, and Larry Gailey.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately by the family.
