Richard Geckle Obituary

CONTINENTAL - Richard L. Geckle, Sr., 74, of Continental, passed away at 9:28 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. He was born September 24, 1949, in Napoleon to the late Clarence Henry and Betty Jane (Strawser) Geckle. On January 19, 1971, he married Judy Wells, who survives in Continental.

Other survivors include five children: Richard L. (Trina) Geckle, Jr. of Continental, Vergil Geckle of Findlay, Jeffrey (Alanda) Geckle of Continental, Lisa (Kory) Baumgartner and Theresa (Matthew) Tharp, both of Findlay; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six siblings: Lester, Norman, Bonnie, Carolyn, Irene and Laura; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by five siblings: Ronnie, Francis, Barbara, Rita and Connie.

Richard was a self-employed plaster and drywall contractor and retired after 40 years of service. He loved cars and enjoyed yard work, mowing, NASCAR, fishing, auctions and antiques. Richard's family was his pride and joy.

Funeral service will begin 3 p.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024, at HEITMEYER FUNERAL HOME, Continental with Pastor Aaron Baumgartner officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
