Richard Martin Gleghorn left a burnout March 5, 2026 on the highway to Heaven welcomed by his parents Alfred H. Gleghorn, Jr. and Annette M. Ruddy Gleghorn along with eldest sibling Holly Ann Gleghorn Linn. Born in
Chicago, IL on May 6, 1963 our Richie Rich was the baby until Ryan James Gleghorn surprisingly arrived in 1979 bringing us endless joy as well as becoming Richie's new little buddy. A tall, jovial joker like his father, Richie had a huge generous heart full of love, laughter and unlimited witty comments. A long-time south side Chicagoan he was a devoted White Sox fan; grandfather Alfred H. Gleghorn, Sr. employed as an accountant let Richie and the grandchildren onto the ball diamond! Although relocating to Florida Richie would forever be a Bears, Bulls, Black Hawks and White Sox fan.
Known for his adventurous spirit, he took many Caribbean cruises, Daytona Bike Week trips, kayak runs on his beloved Cristal River with his long-time love Sandy Lopes and a large fun-loving group of friends. Cody and Jimmie, Richie's long time Florida fur buddies were just two of many four legged critters his gentle heart took home; like our white labrador the original Chicago Bear. If Richie teased you or gave you a crazy monicker then that meant he loved you; or at least tolerated you. Like his mother Richie was so kind that he never met a stranger, so outgoing that anyone he encountered became an instant friend. He had endless stories that he brought to life like a stand-up comic becoming the central figure of endless entertainment and laughter. His mop of red hair, crooked mischievous grin accompanied by an Irish twinkle in his eye made him a unique, one-of-a-kind rascal.
A constant presence and mentor, older brother Robert "Bob" Gleghorn was present at Richie's side during his last weeks and final moments. The two brothers were complete opposites with the exception of both being the life of the party wherever they went in this world. Richie was an endless challenge to keep up with, to tie down or to compete with; he did not tolerate bullies though he could act like one he was a true teddy bear, full of fluffy love. Richie is survived by siblings Robert H. Gleghorn (Cherryl) Tarpon Springs, FL; Ryan Gleghorn (Katelynn Giacalone) Port Richey, FL; Robin Walker, (Rick) Golden, IL. Nieces Ashley Linn Kundid (Mike) Crown Point, IN; Kelsey Linn Duncan (Brad) Lowell, IN; Emily Walker Golden, IL; nephews Colton Walker (Jessica Vick) Golden IL; Shannen Gleghorn (Lynzy) Boca Raton, FL and great-nephew Oliver Gleghorn. He is missed by family, cousins, friends and all who laughed alongside our Richie Rich.
