Richard Grabowsky Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Newbaker Funeral Home - Blairstown on Jan. 16, 2026.
Richard Fredric Grabowsky, 92, of Frelinghuysen Twp, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home on January 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Dick was born on July 11, 1933, in Cambridge, MA, to the late Peter and Veronica (Dombrowsky) Grabowsky. A proud patriot, Dick served honorably in the United States Air Force for 21 years. He began his military career as an aircraft mechanic and, through dedication and perseverance, became a pilot. He flew missions during the Cuban missile conflict and completed one tour during the Vietnam War. His service reflected a lifelong commitment to duty, courage, and country.

After retiring from the Air Force, Dick remained deeply committed to serving others. He volunteered extensively, served as President of the Blairstown Rotary Club, and worked as a Medicare counselor with the Warren County Division of Aging-always approaching his community work with compassion and unwavering integrity.

Dick was devoted to his family above all else. He was the beloved husband of Anita, with whom he shared an extraordinary 70 years of marriage. He was a loving father to Beth Marie Seville, Ann Marie Graybill (Frank), Robert Paul Grabowsky (Rebecca), and Peter Joseph Grabowsky (Gina Castle). He was a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 16 great-grandchildren. Dick also leaves behind his faithful and beloved Westie, Murphy, who was always by his side.

Dick will be remembered for his quiet strength, his quick-witted humor that could light up any room, deep love for his family, and unwavering sense of service. Through his example of love, integrity, and selfless service, his spirit will continue to inspire and guide everyone whose life he touched.

Friends and family can gather for a visitation on February 8, 2026, 11AM-2PM, followed by a service at 2PM at Newbaker Funeral Home, Blairstown, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hillsdale College (hillsdale.edu) in his memory.
