Richard Alan Haffenden, age 65 of Hastings, passed away on June 3, 2023. Richard was born on December 7, 1957 in Battle Creek, the son of Dr. James T. and Lois (White) Haffenden. Richard was employed by Fisher Electric for many years before retiring from Rapa Electric. He loved spending time on the water, skiing, especially with the barefoot ski club on Goguac Lake in Battle Creek, driving boats, and he saved many people from drowning. He also enjoyed classic cars, kite flying and snowmobiling with family and friends. He liked people, entertaining, was a natural conversationalist and enjoyed meals with friends at Grove Street Café and Bowen's. He spent time watching wildlife, especially, deer, turkeys, Sandhill cranes, and many other animals. Most of all he adored his family, playing video games with his children and attending his son's and grandsons' hockey games. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Susan (Urschel) Haffenden; children: Tara (Michael) Robison, Ryan Haffenden; grandchildren: Logan Robison, Colin Robison; siblings: James (Terrie) Haffenden; Julie Naji; John (Kristina) Haffenden; several nieces and nephews; beloved pets; Lacey, Peanut; and grand pet, Hardy Boy. Richard was preceded in death by his parents. Richard's family will receive friends on Friday, June 9, 2023, 6:00 to 8:00 PM where his funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 11:00 AM.
