Richard Hageman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Henry-Olson Funeral Home and Crematory - Estherville on Mar. 16, 2026.
Richard Dale Hageman was born on April 30, 1930 in Estherville, Iowa to Henry and Elizabeth (Hintz) Hageman. He passed away on March 14, 2026 at the Ruthven Community Care Center, at the age of 95 years.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Redeemer Lutheran Church of Estherville.

Dick grew up in the Gruver area and graduated from Gruver High School. He continued his education at Estherville Junior College and later attended a year at Iowa State Teachers College. He returned to northwest Iowa where he was employed by John Morrell & Company. He began as an accountant but that job morphed into computers and data processing. He retired from Morrell in 1990 after a career spanning 37 years.

On May 10, 1958, Richard was united in marriage to Patricia Mustard in Fairmont, Minnesota. He opened his heart to her son as well, becoming a father to Steve, and together they made their home in the Estherville area.

Richard was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville and during his younger years, he was very active in the church. He enjoyed fixing old mechanical things, reading the news and playing games on his computer. Every evening he watched a movie. Less than 9 hours before passing, he told Steve that he couldn't wait to travel with him again-anywhere-once things were back to normal. After Patricia's passing in 1977, Dick remained in Estherville and continued his commitment to the Lord, his son, and his country.

Richard is survived by his son Steve, who will grieve deeply for him until Judgment Day. Additionally, he will be deeply missed by his adoptive granddaughter Mia Mi.

Dick is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brothers George Hageman, Arthur (Agnes) Hageman, and Charles (Dell) (Jean) Hageman.
