Robert "Bud" A. Winterton, 86, of
Winter Haven, FL passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026. He was born in
Estherville, Iowa on October 11, 1939, to the late Torger and Velva Winterton.
He was a man who believed deeply in the value of a strong work ethic, and he extended genuine friendship to everyone he met-truly, everyone was a friend to Bud. Above all, Bud took immense pride in his family. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, delighting in their accomplishments and the love they shared.
Bud found great joy in the simple pleasures of life: casting a line while fishing, embracing the outdoors through camping, and embarking on memorable travels, particularly to the majestic landscapes of Alaska.
A significant chapter of Bud's life was his nearly 50-year journey in Freemasonry. He was initiated into the Masonic Lodge on January 15, 1976. In his first year of membership, he advanced swiftly, receiving the Fellowcraft (FC) and Master Mason (MM) degrees. Over the decades, he served his lodge with distinction in numerous roles, including Junior Steward, Junior Deacon, and for many years as Worshipful Master. His contributions extended further as a Plural Member (2001), Masonic Instructor (2003), Secretary (2004), and District Lecturer (2006).
His legacy of integrity, generosity, and devotion-to his family, friends, and fraternity, and his church-will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Winterton; sons, Jeffrey Winterton, Daniel (Valarie) Winterton; sisters Marcia (Russell) Moffitt, Lois (Larry) Willard; son in law, Kris Werner.
He is survived by his children; Doug (Lauren) Winterton, David (Becky) Winterton, Deborah Werner, Deanna Winterton; grandchildren; Brandon (Maggie), Chelsea (Jonathan), Courtney, Emily (Andrew), Travis, Tyler (Shannon), Audrey, Dain (Fernanda), Justin (Natali), Tana (Manny), William; great grandchildren, Zoey, Oliver, Adelyn, Elan, Lisa, Marie, Elijah, Serena, Kristopher, Damion, Olivia, Jacob, William.
