Richard Haight Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Loudoun Funeral Chapel on Dec. 9, 2025.
RICHARD CHARLES HAIGHT, 85, of Aldie, Virginia, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025.

Born on May 12, 1940 in Peabody, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late James Francis Haight and Hilda Mary Haight. In addition to his parents Richard was predeceased by his brothers Francis Haight and David George.

He leaves his family to cherish his memory including his loving wife of 64 years Virginia Marie Haight and their four children Virginia Gaston (Gilbert) of Aldie, VA, Richard Haight Jr. (Lori) of Lincolnton, NC, Theresa Dube (Raymond) of Belize, and Debora McCarty (Robert) of Accokeek, MD, his brothers James Haight of Dover, NH, David Haight (Jeannie) of Chelsea, MA, and Paul Haight (Cathy) of Peabody, MA, along with 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Richard was a reserved man of deep and abiding faith. In all things, he taught the lessons of Jesus Christ. When necessary, he used words. Richard and Virginia raised their children in the Boston area, regularly including grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins on weekends, holidays or special occasions. His devotion to family was extraordinary. Professionally, he studied briefly at seminary before beginning his career in accounting as a bookkeeper. Richard pursued his education in accounting earning a Master's Degree in Taxation and became a successful Certified Public Accountant, owning his own practice in Keene, NH. While there, Richard became a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight several times, and was proud to serve his parish as a Eucharistic Minister. Charity and volunteerism took much of his time. Throughout all these endeavors, Richard served his nation for more than thirty years in the Massachusetts National Guard and United States Army Reserve, ultimately attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel when he retired in 1989.

Funeral services for Richard will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church, 23331 Sam Fred Rd, Middleburg, VA 20117.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you plant a tree or carry on Richard's legacy of service to his fellow man by donating to the charity of your choice.
