Richard "Dick" H. Harsany passed peacefully at home on Friday, September 9th at the age of 86.
Dick was born in Ellwood City, PA and then spent his formative years in Dayton, OH and then Pocahontas, VA where he graduated from high school. Dick spent 4 years in the Air Force before starting a career in IS. He retired from the State of Florida.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Sandra and his children Richard D. Harsany (Nida), Brian Harsany (Jodi) and Kristie Tterlikkis (Stepho). He was also the proud grandfather of Cole Harsany and Randi Revell. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Doug French (Ellen), Don French (Jan), Dennis French (Bonnie) and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Rev. Andor and Vilma Harsany, brother Robert Harsany and sister Dorothy Brown.
Dick was humorous and fond of gardening, travel, music, movies, cars and auto racing. His antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. Dick also had a soft spot for animals and he was active with the local humane society and he and Sandy fostered numerous pets in addition to their own adoptees.
A visitation will be held at Bevis Funeral Home, 200 John Knox Road, Tallahassee on September 16, at 2:00PM followed by a funeral service at 3:00PM. The family extends its gratitude to Big Bend Hospice for the compassionate care provided to Dick and the family. The family wishes any memorial contributions be made in Dick's memory to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308 or Animal Aid, 2270 Boone Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
